If you were not a fan of one of the break out comedies of 2014 in Neighbors, then you are obviously not a fan of Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express) brand comedy. That was the film in my opinion that made Zac Efron (Dirty Grandpa) like able and that is why I chose to watch Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. Seth and Rose Byrne (Insidious) reprise there roles as Mac and Kelly Radner. The two are trying to sell their house because Stella is a little older and they are about to have another kid. Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) plays Shelby, a teenager who is looking to have the ideal college experience. She figures out that the frat and sorority party system is lame so she decides to start her own fraternity with the help of good ole Teddy (Efron) who now has his chance for revenge on the Radners as the sorority moves next door. The Radners now have 30 days to get the sorority out from next door if they want to sell their house. The film also stars Ike Barinholtz (Sisters) as Jimmy, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) as Beth, Dave Franco (21 Jump Street) as Pete, Beanie Feldstein (Fan Girl) as Nora, Carla Gallo (Superbad) as Paula, and the film was directed by Nicholas Stoller.
Like any new film that is released, I am going to try my best in not spoiling anything for you guys.This is one of those movies that you should know what to expect from a Seth Rogen comedy and that is complete awesomeness. If you were not a fan of Teddy (Efron) in the first film, then you are going to be a fan of his after watching this one. Teddy is that character that thinks he is so cool, but is just so absolutely clueless in life that you can’t help but feel bad for him. The first film was hilarious, but this one isn’t too far behind that because it has some real funny moments contained in it. One of the big themes of the film that they completely explore is the idea of feminism and girl power to the max. The whole idea of the sorority is to be sisters and not hoes because women are so much more than that. If this was a way to apologize for the first film, then I think they accomplished that loud and clear. There is also a shocking detail about one of the characters that you’re going to be sitting there wondering for how long and you’ll start thinking of the first film. Nevertheless, the detail isn’t that bothersome, but it covers another social detail that they throw in for good measure. The girls were amazing and funny as they take the place of the guys from the first film and the war gets interesting. I would definitely give this movie a chance because you’ll enjoy it if you enjoyed the first film. I am going to give the film an A- for a final grade. Check it out in theaters everywhere right now as we speak.
I think I have mentioned before that I usually do not like to watch films that are based on movies, but what can you do when Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) stars in the movie. The movie that I chose for today is called The 5TH Wave and it follows a young girl named Cassie (Moretz) as she recounts each horrific wave of the alien takeover. You see one day the aliens showed up and they slowly began taking over the earth trying to eliminate the humans. All Cassie has left in the world is her little brother Sam (Zackary Arthur), but Sam was taken away by the military who said they were there to help. All Cassie wants to do is get back to Sam before it’s too late. The film also stars Gabriela Lopez (Million Dollar Arm) as Lizbeth, Nick Robinson (Jurassic World) as Ben Parish, Ron Livingston (Office Space) as Oliver Sullivan, Tony Revolori (Dope) as Dumbo, Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as Vosch, Maria Bello (Prisoners) as SGT. Reznik, Maika Monroe (It Follows) as Ringer, Talitha Bateman (Life Grows On) as Teacup, Alex Roe (The Calling) as Evan Walker, and the film was directed by J Blakeson (The Disappearance Of Alice Creed).
Most of the teen aimed book films that we have seen never deal with what has happened, you just assume that some bad things happened. This film deals with what happened and it moves through the different waves which is pretty much everyone’s fear. Giant waves as one of the waves, losing electricity to make us act like animals, and so on and so forth. I have to be perfectly honest and say that this actually wasn’t that bad of a film, it was actually pretty good. Chloë Grace Moretz was as good as you would expect her to be, but for me Maika Monroe was awesome as the bad ass chick that you don’t mess with. I had been waiting to see her in a film since I had seen her amazing performance in It Follows. The movie also has all the things you would want as far as the story is concerned with the twists (I never read the book) and the paranoia of who is human and who is an alien pretending to be human? The cinematography is great especially during the flooding scenes and the acting was very good. Now as far as a second film is concerned, I have no idea because I don’t remember if this film did well in the theaters or not to warrant a second film. I actually would love to see what happens next to our protagonists. So, I am going to recommend this film cause it’s worth at least a watch. I am going to give the film an B+ for a final grade.
I was looking for something to watch today and I saw that Epix Drive In was having an 80’s takeover weekend. So out of all the movies they were showing today and tonight, She’s Having A Baby is the only one I hadn’t seen. The film stars Kevin Bacon (Footloose) and 
There are so many different spy movies in the world today and the question always remains what makes them different than any Bond film ever released. In 2015, they finally released Kingsman: The Secret Service worldwide and I didn’t see it until now. For Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (Taron Egerton), there is much point to be a good ole boy when you come from the wrong side of town. That is until you are bailed out of jail by a man (Colin Firth) who claims to have known your father (that you never got to know). Eggsy is recruited to join a very secretive spy organization known as the Kingsmen, a group modeled after King Arthur and his round table. The organization needs a new recruit when one of their own is killed by a mad man named Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) looking to rid the world of humans because of global warming. Now it’s up to them to save the world before it’s too late. The film also stars Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes) as Merlin, Jack Davenport (Pirates Of The Caribbean: Curse Of The Black Pearl) as Lancelot, Michael Caine (The Dark Knight) as Arthur, Sofia Boutella (Monsters: Dark Continent) as Gazelle, Mark Hamill (Star Wars: A New Hope) as Professor Arnold, and the film was directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass).
The only thing I regret about this movie is that I didn’t see it earlier than this, but better late than never. This is yet another film that I truly enjoyed watching this month and that is kind of the point of this blog. The film has tons of action in it, plenty of that dry British humor that we all love, and a really cool villain. He’s not your stereotypical villain with his lisp, but he has a bad ass hench-woman by his side. The woman has prosthetic’s with swords or blades on the ends of them and she can slice dudes up with them. Kingsman is actually a breath of fresh air for the spy genre for people looking for something different. If the film is a spoof like people say it is then I’ll gladly take another serving of the film from the franchise. If they play their cards right this is definitely a series that could be around for quite some time as long as the writing is good. One of my favorite scenes in the film is definitely when Colin Firth’s character goes into the church and it’s a bloody massacre in there. That is such a cool action sequence that just blew me away. Some of the special effects in the film are very good especially with a head exploding sequence at the end that is very colorful. Oh and Hanna Alström has an amazing asset that she shows off at the end of the film. This is definitely another favorite of mine that is going to make picking a clear and concise top 25 very difficult at the end of the month. With that being said, I am going to give the film an A-/A because it lies somewhere between those two.
